ICLD, Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy, is helping to promote local democracy in developing countries participating in the cooperation programme of Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. ICLD aims to utilise and build on the experience and know-how of Swedish municipalities and regions, and also research and knowledge development in an international context concerning local democracy and local self-government.
ICLD’s operations are financed by Sida and cover three main areas: Knowledge and capacity development, Municipal Partnership and International Training Programmes.
