During a two week workshop, running from the 5-16 of December educators from Europe and Africa met in Visby.
They met to share ideas, learn from each other and develop a progressive educational material for sustainable development. The group consisted of 15 people that gathered inspiration from other experts in the area of ESD, Education for Sustainable Development. The visitors arrived from Jönköping, Visby, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The workshop objective was to develop a material for teacher training in ESD. It focused on what needs to happen in the classroom to equip students with the necessary skills and abilities that promotes a sustainable future. The education material will be presented at the EEASA conference in South Africa during the autumn 2012.
The work of this group was coordinated by SWEDESD, a department at Gotland University working on realizing the goals of the UN decade of ESD.
