Partners and Networks

SWEDESD is privileged to work with several partners, specifically two partners in South Asia and Southern Africa: The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) with headquarters in Ahmedabad, India and the Regional Environment Education Programme of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC REEP) with headquarters at the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA) in Howick, South Africa. These two partner organizations and other key partners are described in alphabetical order:

 

Albaeco

SWEDESD and Albaeco collaborate in communicating sustainable development information. Albaeco is connected to an extensive network of international researchers from both the natural and social sciences, through close collaboration with the Stockholm Resilience Centre, based at Stockholm University.

Baltic Sea Unit

The Baltic Sea Unit is a unit within the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) that develops cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. The Baltic Sea Unit has a special assignment from the Government based on Swedish interests to support activities in the fields of the Environment & Energy, Social and Health issues and Civil Security. Projects and activities are aimed at facilitating the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

CEE

Centre for Environment Education (CEE) works for a wide range of sectors, target groups and geographical areas. In the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-14) the Centre sees a major opportunityto to further contribute towards a sustainable development. CEE was established as a Centre of Excellence in 1984, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India.

Global Action Plan International

Global Action Plan International (GAP) is an international network at the forefront of Education for Sustainable Development and related programmes for sustainable behaviour change – including 'carbon neutral' households, communities and work places. GAP is a network of organizations working for a common goal - empowering people to live and work increasingly sustainably. Each member organization is an independent entity with full responsibility for designing and delivering appropriate programs, and for its own funding and financial management. gap_logo



 

ICLD

ICLD is helping to promote local democracy in developing countries participating in the cooperation programme of Sida, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. ICLD aims to utilise and build on the experience and know-how of Swedish municipalities and regions, and also research and knowledge development in an international context concerning local democracy and local self-government.

ICLD’s operations are financed by Sida and cover three main areas: Knowledge and capacity development, Municipal Partnership and International Training Programmes.

International Programme Office

The International Programme Office for Education and Training is a Swedish government agency that promotes academic exchanges and cooperation across national borders. The mission is to support different forms of international cooperation within education. The International Programme Office award grants and project funding as part of the cooperation and exchange programmes under its responsibility. Communication initiatives aimed at various target groups in the field of education in Sweden is another undertaking. Primary funders are the European Commission, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Swedish government. IPK_logo

 


 

OMEP

 - World Organization for Early Childhood Education

SWEDESD is collaborating with Göteborgs miljövetenskapliga centrum - GMV and Svenska OMEP in raising the profile of early childhood education and care for sustainability in the project called ECEC for Sustainable development. OMEP is an international, non-governmental and non-profit organisation concerned with all aspects of early childhood education and care (ECEC). OMEP defends and promotes the rights of the child to education and care worldwide and supports activities which improve accessibility to high quality education and care. OMEP is currently established in over 60 countries and is represented at meetings of UNESCO, UNICEF, and other international organisations with similar aims.

Stockholm Resilience Centre

SRC_LogoThe Stockholm Resilience Centre is an international centre that advances transdisciplinary research for governance of social-ecological systems with a special emphasis on resilience - the ability to deal with change and continue to develop. It is a joint initiative between Stockholm University, the Stockholm Environment Institute and the Beijer International Institute of Ecological Economics at The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The centre is funded by the Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research (Mistra), The Centre for Transdisciplinary Environmental Research (CTM) at Stockholm University and The Baltic Nest Institute (former MARE) are also part of the Stockholm Resilience Centre.
