Handprints
- a SWEDESD International Project Workshop
Visby, Sweden, 24-26 March 2010
The Handprints workshop was a process of compiling and structuring about 20 concrete, visionary, inspirational and instructive examples and cases of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as practiced by civil society organisations in Sweden and in the Global South. The resulting publication is expected to contain an attractive description of some of the cases and be an instructional guide for exploring and appreciating their unique ESD and SD features so as to enhance the “action competence” of the user. The process leading to the compilation was as important as the outcome itself; it was constructed as a learning exercise, during which the participating organisations sharpened their own ESD competencies.
Participating organisations: Red Cross Sweden, Plan Sweden, The Church of Sweden, WWF Sweden, IOGT-NTO International Institute, Red Cross Thailand, WWF Mongolia, Nature Uganda, Plan Indonesia, The Community Learning and Action Networking Promotion Organization (CLANPO) Thailand, RDRS Bangladesh, Clowns Without Borders Sweden, MASIPAG (Farmer - Scientist Partnership for Development Incorporation) Philippines, Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC), Mekane Yesus College Ethiopia, Gisenye Acrobat Club Rwanda.
